Paracuru is a small town in Brazil in the Ceara region, 90 kilometres northeast of the region's capital Fortaleza. This coastal town has around 30,000 inhabitants, and receives a significant amount of tourism thanks to its fantastic beaches. The town is a little more than 100 years old, and has developed around fishing, agriculture and in recent decades, tourism. Visitors typically come to enjoy the extensive beaches, where they can practice sports such as windsurfing and kite surfing.
This town is heaven for anyone looking for sporting activities and places of natural beauty. All over the 300 squared kilometres of the area, you will find numerous ideal hotels to stay in, cabins by the sea, apartments, and all kinds of accommodation options.
Of the local beaches, it is worth mentioning Prata de Paracuru, as well as Pedra Redonda, Pericorara and Barra do Río Curo, among others.
Until quite recently it was predominantly Brazilian holiday makers who would visit the area, but these days, thanks in great part to sports such as kite surfing, Paracuru along with places like Sucumbo and Jericoacoara has become internationally renowned. These localities have happily managed to absorb this new cosmopolitanism without losing their identity as small coastal communities and fishing villages. |
